Be Part Of The Ecosystem
We are building the future city & you're invited!

WELCOME

Urban Forest is an urban innovation lab and co-creation platform located in Nobelberget.

Re-imagining & building the future city is one of the great design challenges of the 21st century. With Urban Forest we have an opportunity to not only dream about the next paradigm for city development, but to actually make it happen.

ABOUT

Urban Forest is a project initiated by Atrium Ljungberg (One of Sweden's leading property developers) in collaboration with Exponentials (Innovation Studio).

Over the next 6-8 years we will be redeveloping the area of Nobelberget into a residential neighbourhood with over 450 apartments / homes. We want to continue working with what Nobelberget stands for today; creativity and culture - and develop a truly groundbreaking residential neighbourhood that celebrates sustainability, with a strong spirit of creativity, entrepreneurship and community.

As city developers we believe it is both our responsibility and our opportunity to not only observe and follow the trends but to step into leadership and start building the future we all want to see. We need to think beyond our tried and tested business models and explore new possibilities for impact and growth.

To truly develop vibrant, liveable and sustainable neighbourhoods we need to look beyond buildings and focus on people and culture.

STRATEGY

If we are to build thriving urban neighbourhoods then we must first learn how to build thriving ecosystems.

We chose the name Urban Forest because it embodies the ‘ecosystem mindset’ that we believe is critical for participatory city development to take place. The primary purpose of Urban Forest is to think beyond the physical buildings, and carefully consider the digital, cultural and social dimensions of urban life. It's time to apply ecosystems thinking to city development and inspire Stockholm's city makers to weave together a far richer tapestry of events, projects and services than we could ever imagine by ourselves.

OUR CO-CREATION PROCESS

We are looking for entrepreneurs, architects, hackers, doers, thinkers who share our vision and passion.

The first step is to focus on hosting events, workshops and gatherings, through which we can catalyse deeper conversations, spark new ideas and strengthen local networks, continuously adding to our ever-evolving ecosystem map of people, projects and possibilities.

The second step is to build our network of city-makers who can work with us to co-create innovative services and community projects which we can integrate into our masterplan for Nobelberget.

The third step is to open an urban innovation incubator at our culture house in Fabriken and to launch a digital platform that will help us to weave together all of our ideas, projects and services.

We have the opportunity to co-create a truly groundbreaking development at Nobelberget. Let’s think beyond buildings and bring a fresh perspective to city development.

"The most exciting breakthroughs of the 21st century will not occur because of technology, but because of an expanding concept of what it means to be human."

- John Naisbitt, Futurist

We are here to listen, we are here to learn, and we are here to build the physical, digital and human infrastructure needed for a 21st century multi-cultural city to thrive and grow.

ECOSYSTEM MAP

In this complex world that we live in, no single architect or organisation can have all the answers.

If we are to build thriving urban neighbourhoods then we must first learn how to build thriving ecosystems. This means investing in research, events and community building. This means being open to feedback and inspiring local people and organisations to step up and share their ideas and projects with us. This means telling new stories of inspiring urban futures and then supporting Stockholm's city-makers to make it happen.
